Position Summary
NTSOC is seeking compassionate, dependable, and dedicated IHSS/CFC Attendants to provide in-home support to individuals receiving services through Medicaid programs. Attendants support clients in maintaining independence, safety, and dignity in their homes through personal care, health maintenance activities, and homemaker services. This position plays a vital role in client well-being while ensuring services are delivered in alignment with care plans, program guidelines, and NTSOC standards. Client assignments may include one two or all three service types depending on each client’s needs and authorized plan of care.

Salary: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Personal Care Services
  • Provides direct personal care and assistance with activities of daily living, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, mobility, and transfers as authorized in the care plan.
  • Supports basic personal care activities such as medication reminders, non-skilled respiratory support, and use of adaptive equipment within scope and training.
  • Provides protective oversight, supervision, and emotional support to ensure client safety and well-being.
  • Observes and reports changes in client physical and mental condition to appropriate professional staff.
Health Maintenance Activities (HMA)
  • Provides direct in-home care to clients as assigned and follows the established plan of care, agency policies, and professional instructions.
  • Performs health maintenance activities including medication assistance, feeding support, and respiratory care within scope of training and authorization.
  • Assists with mobility and physical support including ambulation, transfers (including Hoyer lift use when required), positioning, and exercise programs as directed.
  • Provides skilled support with bladder and bowel care when required per care plan, including catheter care and related procedures are within authorized scope and training per care plan.
  • Observes, reports, and documents changes in client physical and mental condition to appropriate professional staff in a timely manner.
  • Supports client well-being through emotional support and encourages socialization as appropriate.
Homemaker Services
  • Maintains cleanliness of client living spaces including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas through dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and dishwashing.
  • Performs laundry, bed making, and organization of client personal living areas to support a safe and comfortable home environment.
  • Assists with meal preparation, menu planning, grocery shopping, and proper food handling and storage within the client’s home.
  • Supports client skill-building (AME) related to homemaker tasks to promote independence in managing their living space and daily routines.
  • Follows infection control practices, including universal precautions, and adheres to agency emergency preparedness and safety guidelines within the client’s home.

Minimum Education/Training/Experience:
The IHSS/CFC Attendant shall have completed NTSOC’s training program or have verified experience in the provision of personal care, health maintenance activities, and homemaker services, and must successfully pass skills validation for all applicable service types.

Licenses/Registrations:
May require BLS/CPR certification.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls and communicate effectively with clients and agency staff.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.  

Working Conditions:
Work is generally performed in a home environment.  May be exposed to occupational hazards such as communicable diseases, cleaning agents, and disinfectants, and clients who may exhibit confusion, agitation, or behavioral changes.
